The aim of the program:

Main aim of the specialty Psychology of Health and Rehabilitation is to prepare students for being a professional support for the people coping with somatic and mental diseases during the stages of treatment, rehabilitation and adaptation to health changes. Program concentrates on the deep understanding of complex relation between psychological, biological and social factors, which influence the patient’s health condition and their well-being. Education is interdisciplinary and it integrates the knowledge of clinical psychology, psychology od health, therapeutic interventions and psycho-social rehabilitation.

Who is it for?

The specialty is aimed at students who:

  • are interested in psychology of health, clinical and rehabilitation psychology,
  • want to work with patients with chronic illnesses, disabled and elderly,
  • plan their career in hospitals, sanatoria, day care centers or rehabilitation facilities,
  • are ready to work in conditions requiring empathy, endurance and mental resilience,
  • want to develop their competence in psychological support, health education and promotion of health.

Students gain competence in recognizing psychological consequences of a disease, in designing and performing therapeutic activities and in cooperating with medical and rehabilitation team. Classes also include patient-therapist communication, support of the patient’s family, and promotion of health and prevention of disorders.

Teaching mode

Teaching modes: full-time and part-time mode

Part-time mode

You meet the lecturer and the group both, online and at the premises of the University. Meetings take place on weekends and selected Friday afternoons.

Full-time mode

Classes are mostly of in-person nature organized on weekdays. Typically they take place 3-4 days a week at the premises of the University and some part of the lectures is delivered on-line.

How can you study this major?

Hybrid learning

Part of the classes (mainly lectures) are delivered on the MS Teams platform, and majority of labs are based on-site in the lecture rooms.


The schedule includes days that are fully remote, but also days that all classes are held on-site.

Profile of the graduate

Graduates:

  • Have the knowledge on psychological diagnosis of the patients with chronic diseases, disability and patients after injuries or surgeries,
  • Can design and conduct psychological interventions aimed at supporting of the patient in the process of healing and convalescence,
  • Understand psychological mechanisms of adaptation to a disease, to hospitalization, chronic pain and loss of capacity,

What can our graduate do?

  • are prepared to working with various groups of patients – the elderly, people with somatic diseases, with chronic diseases, with neurological diseases and the people with functional limitations,
  • posses good communication skills in a therapist-patient and in therapist-patient’s family relations,
  • can act effectively in interdisciplinary teams, cooperating with medical and rehabilitation staff,
  • are empathic, ethically sensitive and ready to support people in crisis situations.

  • Recruitment fee – 85 PLN
  • Student identity card fee –  – 22 PLN
  • Registration fee – 500 PLN

Start of the specialty depends on the number of submissions, at least 25 people for each specialty. Chosen selection at the registration does not guarantee opening of the specialty.
