The aim of the program:

The aim of the Clinical Psychology is to provide the students with advanced academic knowledge and the functional skills essential at work in the domain of mental health. The program’s main concern are issues of psychological diagnosis, psychopathology, neuropsychology and therapeutic support of the people who experience emotional and behavioral disturbances and mental crises.

Students will have the opportunity to gain competence essential to recognize and analyze the mechanisms for the rise of mental health difficulties and to plan and apply proper forms of psychological help. The program includes both, clinical and academic components which allow further training in psychotherapy or specialization in clinical psychology.

Psychopathology and diagnosis:

  • Psychopathology of adults
  • Psychopathology of children and adolescents
  • Clinical and differential diagnosis
  • Practical use of psychological tests
  • Classification of mental disorders (ICD-11, DSM-5)

Neuropsychology and functioning of the brain:

  • Clinical neuropsychology
  • Psychophysiology and psychopharmacology
  • Neuropsychological diagnosis

Intervention and therapy:

  • Introduction to psychotherapy – review of trends
  • Crisis intervention
  • Psychotraumatology – work with people who experienced mental traumas
  • Therapy of anxiety disorders and depression
  • Elements of therapy of families and children

Professional training:

  • Analysis methods of clinical cases
  • Ethical and legal standards of a psychologist’s work
  • Apprenticeship in mental healthcare institutions

Teaching mode

Teaching modes: full-time and part-time mode

Part-time mode

You meet the lecturer and the group both, online and at the premises of the University. Meetings take place on weekends and selected Friday afternoons.

Full-time mode

Classes are mostly of in-person nature organized on weekdays. Typically they take place 3-4 days a week at the premises of the University and some part of the lectures is delivered on-line.

How can you study this major?

Hybrid learning

Part of the classes (mainly lectures) are delivered on the MS Teams platform, and majority of labs are based on-site in the lecture rooms.


The schedule includes days that are fully remote, but also days that all classes are held on-site.

Profile of the graduate

The graduate will have academic preparation to continue their education in school of psychotherapy, to obtain specialization in clinical psychology or family therapy.

What can our graduate do?

  • have specialist knowledge in the field of psychopathology of children, adolescents and adults;
  • have the ability to use the diagnostic tools in the work of a clinical psychologist, including psychological tests, interviews and clinical observations;
  • can analyze clinical cases and plan diagnostic and therapeutic actions;
  • are prepared to work with people with mental, emotional, psychosomatic disorders, and with neuropsychological deficits;
  • are familiar with the basis for various therapeutic approaches and are able to apply proper form of intervention;
  • are aware of the ethical norms and standards being in force in the clinical psychologist’s work;
  • are ready to cooperate with the interdisciplinary therapeutic team (e.g. with psychiatrist, therapist, neurologist and pedagogue).

Start of the specialty depends on the number of submissions, at least 25 people for each specialty. Chosen selection at the registration does not guarantee opening of the specialty.
