Extended theory and practice in speech therapy permits for preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic activities in terms of speech disorders on the level of general and specialist advice. The studies prepare for working in e.g. educational facilities and healthcare centers.
The graduate of postgraduate studies of Speech therapy specialty gains indispensable knowledge and skills to be capable to define and recognize the problems connected with speech disorders, has speech therapy training and qualifications for working with children, adolescents and adults with speech disorders and language communication disorders. The graduate is prepared to working in all types of educational institutions, educational care centers, therapeutic, resocialization and prevention centers that exist in the child, adolescent and adult care systems. They are also capable to initializing and participating in a broad range of activities in the field of diagnosis, help and speech therapy care.
The program is in accordance with the latest Ministry guidelines on the standard of education preparing for the profession of speech therapist. The graduates, particularly those who already have pedagogical background or are going to obtain it during the course of studies gain full qualifications for conducting specialist classes in educational facilities. It enables them to perform their therapeutic duties but also educational and prevention tasks on all stages of education.
Postgraduate Speech Therapy studies are aimed at the people who already have the Bachelor or Master’s degree in psychology, pedagogics, social work, philology, or other social, humanities or medical disciplines.
Graduation of the fast growing specialization of Speech Therapy postgraduate studies enables our students to use obtained knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat speech and communication disorders in children, adolescents and adults.
Upon graduation, students are qualified to work as a speech therapist.
In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of August 7, 2014, on the classification of occupations and specializations for the labour market and the scope of its application, these studies prepare students for the profession of Speech Therapist (code 229402).
The greatest emphasis is put on the practical preparation of speech therapists through numerous workshops and internships. It allows our graduates to be ready for individual diagnostic and therapeutic work in psychological and pedagogical counselling centers, schools, and kindergartens with integration classes. Complex pedagogical background obtained during the course is fundamental in efficient bonding with children and in effective cooperation with patient’s family and with other specialists.
Completion of higher education (at least Bachelor’s degree) is required for admission.
