Psychoonkologia

Psycho-oncology is a field dynamically developing at the interface of psychology and medicine. The program includes the psychological aspects of a diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with cancer. Participants learn how to conduct efficient psychological support, how to use therapeutic techniques, how to communicate with patients and their family, and also how to deal with own emotions in situations which are difficult while performing professional duties.

The aim of the postgraduate studies in psycho-oncology is to prepare specialists to be able to support their oncological patients and their families in dealing with emotional, psychological and social consequences of cancer. The program combines the knowledge on clinical psychology, therapy and palliative care and communication by giving the participants tools to working in medical environment and in interdisciplinary teams.

Completion of higher education (at least Bachelor’s degree) is required for admission.

Profile of the graduate

Graduates of psycho-oncology are professionals prepared to working with oncological patients in various stages of a disease and with their families. They have the psychological and medical knowledge, they can conduct emotional support, use proper therapeutic techniques and cooperate with a medical team. Graduate is ready to work in hospitals, cancer clinics, hospices, nursing homes, support centers and aid organizations.
