The program of this specialty gives broad neurospeech therapy preparation in academic and practical approaches for conducting preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic actions in speech disturbances of children, adolescents and adults with central nervous system dysfunctions. The studies prepare their graduates for working in specialist healthcare centers and education centers.

The graduates acquire knowledge and qualifications essential for their specialization in neurospeech therapy.

According to the regulation of Minister of Labour and Social Policy of August 7, 2014, on the classification of occupations and specializations for the needs of the labour market and the scope of its application, these studies prepare for the profession of Neurospeech Therapist (code 229403).

Graduates of postgraduate studies of the Neurospeech Therapy specialty gain indispensable knowledge and skills allowing them to define and recognize problems connected to speech disorders and problems with communication in children, adolescents and adults with dysfunctions of central nervous system. Graduates are prepared for working in specialist healthcare centers and education centers.

Postgraduate studies of the Neurospeech Therapy are aimed at the people who graduated from speech therapy postgraduate studies or 5-year master’s program of speech therapy specialty.

Main subjects covered during the program:

Subjects in the first academic semester (135h) cover the issues of neurological diseases, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), neurolinguistics, neurobiological therapy and multisensory therapy and neurospeech therapy diagnostics.

Subjects in the second academic semester (135h) cover the issues of neurospeech diagnosis and therapy in aphasia and specific speech and language disorders; in dysphagia; in autism spectrum disorders; children with intellectual impairments and co-occurring disorders; stammering people and people with other disorders causing speech fluency dysfunctions; people with congenital syndromes; in neurodegenerative diseases and early intervention and support for a premature children.

Completion of higher education (at least Bachelor’s degree) is required for admission.
