The aim of the program:

The aim of the Dietetics in Sport specialty is to gain knowledge on the nutrition and supplementation in recreational sport activities and in various sport disciplines. During our practical classes students will acquire the ability to prepare nutrition plans for adults who train professionally, but also for the young athletes. They will learn how to provide nutritional education for people who are physically active. They will also learn the dietary recommendations for people who sustained injuries, e.g. during their workout or competition.

Dietetics in sport is currently one of the most developing branches of dietetics. It is focused on the research concerning the impact of diet on fitness level and physical endurance of the physically active people. Students will gain knowledge on i.a. supplementation in various sport disciplines, the rules governing nutrition of a young athlete or the use of diets after sustaining an injury. They will learn how to prepare meal plans for athletes, adjusted to the type of workout and to their individual needs. During practical classes, our students will use professional programs for dieticians, e.g. Nuvero, Dietico.

Dietetics in sport in AMH has been designed to prepare our graduates for the work of sport dietician.

The graduate will be able to design meal plans for children, adolescents and adults who professionally practice various disciplines of sport, and for the people who play sport for their recreation. They will be able to provide nutritional education for athletes considering proper supplementation and also concerning injuries that may have occurred during workout or competition.

Teaching mode

Teaching modes: full-time and part-time mode

Part-time mode

You meet the lecturer and the group both, online and at the premises of the University. Meetings take place on weekends and selected Friday afternoons.

Full-time mode

Classes are mostly of in-person nature organized on weekdays. Typically they take place 3-4 days a week at the premises of the University and some part of the lectures is delivered on-line.

How can you study this major?

Hybrid learning

Part of the classes (mainly lectures) are delivered on the MS Teams platform, and majority of labs are based on-site in the lecture rooms.


The schedule includes days that are fully remote, but also days that all classes are held on-site.

Profile of the graduate

Graduates of Dietetics in sport specialty are qualified specialists in nutrition of physically active people. They have the knowledge on exercise physiology, supplementation and therapy with diet which helps in training and regeneration. They can effectively support both, professional athletes and people who do sport for recreational purposes.

What can our graduate do?

  • Design individual meal plans adjusted to the type of physical activity and goals
  • Choose dietary supplements in accordance with current recommendations and needs of the body
  • Monitor patient’s nutritional condition and effectiveness of the diet plan
  • Help in regeneration process and enhancement of the physical endurance
  • Cooperate with trainers, physiotherapists and doctors in sport teams

Start of the specialty depends on the number of submissions, at least 25 people for each specialty. Chosen selection at the registration does not guarantee opening of the specialty.
